ASPE (English)

CENTRE FOR CHILDHOOD PROTECTION - ASPE (road to the Camp site)

This center hosts between 5 to 20 children placed by the Ministry of Justice for delinquency (minor offenses) primarily they are boys.
It also houses 25 girls from rural areas coming from very poor families.
A primary school was also created in the center to welcome 50 very poor children from the surrounding area.
Since May, a farming school was set up on the center's premises to train Ambatovy construction workers reaching the end of their contract.
This center is  is also open to trainees of the region. The children of the center  also benefit from these courses and training.

We try to to provide basic courses to the girls in such areas as hygiene, Malagasy and French language, cooking, sewing, and crafts.
This year we would like to send some of the girls for a few months for additional training outside of the center (hairdressing, housekeeping/laundry, baking, etc).
The center receives very limited subsidies. The Ministry of Justice granted  only 2 millions ariary (about $1000 USD) to run the center for the whole year.
We currently have donors who support us to fund the wages of the personnel for about 1 year.
CIS has still committed for another 6 months to supply food to the center.

Current needs:

- For the primary nursery school, school supplies: notebooks, pencils, chalk, compass, etc...
- Clothes for young children and for teenagers between 14-16 years of age.
- Need to repair or replace the wooden bunk beds, many are in a very bad condition.
-Rennovation/Expansion of the kitchen and dining area
- Need for basic hygiene products, soap, shampoo, toothpaste etc...
- Need of a first aid kit box (dressings, Mercurochrome, alcohol 90 °, aspirin, pills for diarrhea, thermometer, etc...)

In addition, anybody who could dedicate their time and skills for training would be welcome.
